Customer Relationship
Management or CRM, is a product,
and a way of life and doing business, which
covers a number of different business areas
under many different guises.
The
basic theory is that it provides a centralized
location and interface for all Customer Related
activities. While this is wonderful in theory,
it is seldom actually achieved. Much more likely
is an integration of your CRM product with other
applications and data.
Accounting Software,
HR Software, Operational Applications and many
other software types have much more functionality
in their specific areas than the corresponding
CRM solution. Integration with the CRM package
therefore becomes a preferred alternative. While
this is the preferred method, it does provide
for significant logistical challenges during
the planning and implementation phase of the
CRM project.
Each and every department
within your organization may provide or utilize
the data or have requirements that make it become
a part of your CRM solution. What are the specific
goals that a CRM solution should accomplish
for your business? There are many and each project
should be planned and designed on its own merits
and needs.
